Above: This photo was taken from the Greyhound Road end of Bayonne Road.
It was a street Party for Queen Elizabeth II`s coronation in June 1953.
In this photo are my mum, nan, aunty Vi, aunty Ev, aunty Kate, uncle Ben, uncle Bill, uncle Nelson. Cousins Patricia, Carol, Pamela, Johnny, Jimmy, Patrick, Terry and Denis. Plus Mr and Mrs Webb from number 8, the house my mum and her nine siblings grew up in. I hadn`t been born yet as I wasn`t even a twinkle in my dad`s eye. That came a few years after this photo was taken 8-)

This photo was taken from much the same place in about 1976.
Thanks to the GLC getting their way by using their terminological inexactitudes as a form of weaponry, this road and several others that surrounded it, no longer exist.

Below:
Our corner shop, known locally for many years as `Jacksons`. It was at number 50 Bayonne Road. My old house was next door at number 48. Uncle Jim, aunty Ev, cousins Patrick, Jimmy and Rosalind were at number 42. Uncle Eric, aunty Kate, cousins Vivian, Sheridan and Jeremy were next door to number 1 on the corner of Greyhound Road.

The remnants of Bayonne Road (Lillie Road end) run off to the left of this photo and straight ahead in the colour photo underneath this one.

A day trip to Cambers Sands with our Sunday School c1965. Bayonne Road neighbours Stephen and Margaret Savage. Next door neighbour, Madelaine Field (number 46 Bayonne). Cousin Christine, me at front middle in dark jumper, my sister Denise wearing white jumper with zig-zags, and cousin Charlie far right as well as a few other faces I`m afraid I can`t put names to.

Little me on the low wall outside No. 8 Bayonne Road. My mum, her four sisters and five brothers grew up in this house from the late 1920s. I`m standing with the newer occupants, Harry and Violet Webb and their Poodle, Pepe. This was around 1964.

Harry died April 1970

Violet died March 1976
